Local's Perspective of the Gathering (Before and After)

Image
These series of videos were created by a local and show the before, during, and after showing the land from Travel DnA  During the Gathering   This is a compilation video of 4 trips up to Adam's Park in NW Colorado. It was the 50th Anniversary of the Rainbow Family Gatherings, and they chose a spot in the Routt National Forest, in our backyard. Adam's Park is very special to our family and we decided to take several trips up to the Gathering, to document the set-up, the festivities and most importantly the clean-up, reclamation and impact to the land. The Rainbow Family requested that we refrain from taking direct pictures of people without their permission. Therefore, our videos do not show much of the kitchens, bartering, festivities and such.   Rainbow Cleanup 2022

Combating Abusive Law Enforcement

If you were at the 50th Anniversary of the Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes and you were stopped by law enforcement for any reason, during which you feel the officer(s) involved were abusive, you are encouraged to file an administrative complaint with the agency where the officer is employed. There is no time limit within which to file as long as it is reasonable. When filing an administrative complaint, focus only on the conduct of the officer(s) involved and report only the facts to the best of your knowledge. Keep in mind, you are filing an administrative complaint against officer conduct and not any charges that may have been brought against you. If you make your complaint about any charges, it will be promptly denied as that is a matter for a judge to decide. Generally, statements made in an administrative complaint are admissible in a court of law. Folks are advised to keep their complaint focused only on the conduct of the officer(s) involved. Help find Mocha

Image
Mocha was camped with her human, Tammy, at Info from July 4-11th that I witnessed.  Tammy was taken to the hospital in Craig, Colorado on July 13 or 14.  Tammy passed away shortly there after and we're trying to reunite Mocha with Tammy's brother. Mocha is a lively, fun loving chocolate labrador retriever who is ready to play at the drop of a hat. If you have seen Mocha on or after July 13, please call and share what you know.

Patch Adams -- A Love Strategy

Patch Adams (made famous by the film staring Robin Williams) attended gatherings for many years. He made it back to the gathering in Colorado.   He was at Granola Funk Theater and this recording is from that experience (in MP3 format).

USFS Resource Design Criteria

Image
What we tend to call an "Operating Plan" that we intend to be worked out between the United States Forest Services (USFS) and folks on the land, the USFS has renamed the "Resource Design Criteria" and it's a document they handed to us this year without any council, circle or group discussion.  Therefore, not many people knew about it. But in case your curious, here it is. Or find it here in PDF format.

Lost & Found: People, Pets, Things

Image
Updated 7/15/22 --  Please reach out to me if you lost a phone or a wallet. Every year people, pets and various objects are lost at the gathering or people not at the gathering fear people have been lost.  Lost People Every year people go to the gathering and their loved ones worry.  Just a reminder, that while some people are getting cell reception, it varies by cell service. Plus, phone run out of batteries, get dropped in the mud, or get lost. If you haven't heard from your friends and/or family since they went into the gathering, odds are they are still down in the gathering and can't call you due to one of the above reasons. Again, on the road where the cars and cops are is the area where problems occur. We strongly recommend that people stay inside the gathering. Going in and out increases a persons risk of a negative experience with law enforcement. Again, people on the land will strongly suggest to your loved one that they stay inside the gathering until it's over.
